The Amorphic Burden

A single vision
Myopic and brittle
When pressed I always cave.
It’s the least I can do
When given attention
I have bludgeoned my sanity
Into a catatonic stare.
I am afraid of how little I believe
That anything I've done is worth more than a passing glance
And a sneer of derision before being forgotten
I am committed to digging my own grave
By walking away.
If I survive the fire
I’ll live in the wreckage and ash.
No resurrection
I am not a phoenix.
No resurrection
I am an insect.

A Vacillant Breath
05:12
|

It isn’t time yet
The path extends along
There has been empty suffering
There has been too much stillness
I have fallen into every trap you set.
Some while I was stepping back,
There is never grace in the ways I react
And crumble
If there is a method to hide how deeply I have failed
I’ve yet to learn it.
If there is merit found in my presence here
It is a secret that will die after me.
All of this silence
Lends a voice to the darkest thoughts in my head
My tired aching mind
Can muster awful threats
Through the panic and crippling static.
I look for hope in poison and in sleep
I am grateful for the fleeting moments
Where I don't feel anything.
I am a sunk cost without fallacy
My best endeavors are doomed to fail
Inherently

Tear me up in your jaws
Thrash til you hear the snap
I have felt like prey in every moment.
All that I am is a quaking mass
Of desperate, painful, energy.
I can't stand this slow death
And the stench of everything rot.
Festering anxiety
Spend waking hours waiting for sleep
In my dreams I clench my teeth
And they shatter into jagged pieces
This is just a sad and errant effort
To distract me
To buy time.
I am nothing
I am only wounded
Vicious and inept.
